Campus Ministry
In keeping with the mission statement and philosophy of Mercy schools, Lauralton Hall functions as a community of faith. The Director of Campus Ministry has primary responsibility for development and growth of the spiritual life of the entire school community: students, faculty, administration and staff. In collaboration with students and staff, the Office of Campus Ministry plans retreats, liturgies and prayer services for both students and staff. In keeping with the spirit of Catherine McAuley, Lauralton Hall has created an atmosphere where gospel values are not only taught, but lived.

Students participate in a four-year service program which strengthens their sense of compassion and encourages them to become active and responsible participants in the global community. More detailed information on service program requirements and service forms can be accessed from  the Service page on Hallways.

In the spirit of service to the poor, Lauralton Hall Outreach sponsors special collections throughout the school year. Students also support Thanksgiving, Christmas and  Easter drives to benefit Mercy Leaning Center in Bridgeport.
Campus Ministers will meet the following Tuesdays: Sept. 13; Oct. 4, Nov. 1, Dec. 6, Jan. 3, Feb. 7, Mar. 6, April 3 and May 1. from 2:25-3PM in the Campus Ministers Office-lower level of Mercy Hall.

“The poor need help today, not next week.”
- Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy

Sunday Reflection
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
January 29, 2012
Scripture
  • “A prophet like me will the LORD, your God, raise up for you from among your own kin; to him you shall listen. (Deuteronomy 18:15)
  • If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. (Psalm 95:8)
  • I should like you to be free of anxieties (1 Corinthians 7:32)
  • The people were astonished at his teaching, (Mark 1:22)
Reflection
  • When do you here the Lord’s voice?
  • How free are you from unnecessary anxiety?
  • What is astonishing in Jesus’ teaching?
Francis gestured, danced, laughed, and sang; felt the Earth in his skin and bones; talked with Jesus; enjoyed the companionship of his brothers and preached repentance in towns along the way. From the time of his conversion, he envisioned himself as a troubadour of Christ. On occasion he would pick up a stick and, imagining that he was playing a violin, sing about is God. He refused to suppress the energy of his soul and coaxed his brothers to sing so that they would awaken the spirit of joy in the hearts of listeners. (St. Francis of Assisi)
